Where to buy fabric to sew your own underwear

Finding the right fabric can be the most intimidating part of sewing your own lingerie. I really want to take the guesswork out of this for you, so here are links for a few of my favorite underwear fabrics, and a little about why I like them so much…

Plush Organic Cotton/Spandex Jersey
This material is almost identical to the wholesale fabric that I use for my Organic Cotton Collection. It’s a little thicker than the other fabrics linked here, which means that while it’s very soft it’s also extremely supportive (great if you plan to make a matching bralette!) It’s also easy to work with as it holds its shape well.

Hemp/Organic Cotton/Spandex Jersey
I love the texture of this fabric, with little nubbles from the hemp fiber. It’s not quite as buttery soft as the Tencel or Plush Organic Cotton, but it’s super cute, easy to work with, and more durable and eco-friendly than your average knit.

Tencel/Organic Cotton/Spandex Jersey
This fabric is SO soft. Tencel is a natural synthetic fiber, processed from wood pulp into silky, drapey strands of fiber. This material is extremely comfy and luxurious, but that drape does mean that it’s a little harder to work with and doesn’t hold it’s shape quite as well as the Hemp or Organic Cotton options above.

Worth noting: the High Waist Full Cut Sewing Pattern comes with discount codes for all of these shops!
